A Roundup of Aspiring Flightsters

I just want to say to all of the writers what a blast it was to have so many awesome entries into this contest. I really enjoyed reading every one of them and am so glad that I got connect with the travel blogging community. Although I’ve been a blogger for over a year, almost every one of you is new on my radar and I’m really thrilled to have discovered your blogs. I hope that you’ll go through and read all of these articles and give some blogger love to all the people who entered. I’ll be announcing the finalists in a few days.

Emily Gerson from Maiden Voyage Travel Took us on  a  Photographic Tour of a Spice Marketing in Istanbul.

Paul from a Life In A Sack encouraged young travelers to forget Europe and explore low cost destinations.  As somebody who’s done Europe and lived in South America, I think he’s spot on. Go where you can get more for your money.

The author of the Out of Edwards blog gave us a few tips on surviving a redeye.

Matt gave us 7 great reasons to start a travel blog and I personally loved all of them and just reading this made me want to hit the road to parts unknown.

Megan shared a story about memorable passengers that she’s had as a flight attendant.  When I first read the title I was expecting something similar to my story about sitting next to the passenger from hell, but it turns out there are some really great passengers in flight to0.

Suzy Guese shared some interesting travel lessons from a 5000 year old iceman. This definitely was a memorable read, so go check it out.

Can’t sleep on a plane? Sabina Lohr may be able to help you with her advice on how to sleep on a plane and like it.

Chris Dame have us a quick look at some travel hygiene tips.

Leo shared his thoughts on why Japan is such an amazing travel destination. Maybe I’ll join him on his next trip.

If you have ever wanted to travel to Finland and want a hilarious 10-step guide to surviving the trip. this would be it. Warm clothes and lots of booze seem to be par for the course.

Want to ditch your backpack or trade it in for a motor cycle? Patrick might be able to help you.

Every wondered what might happen if were chasing Pisco Sours and Peruvian Happy hours? Well click on the link and you’ll find out.

Tushar decided to share a few tips on dealing with overall flying experience.

Jeannie from Nomadic Chick, shared some pretty interesting stuff about being a female traveler. Then she went an extra mile and shared a video with us:

I don’t trust people who don’t like chocolate, so the title of this post by Connie Motz about the Chocolate Islands made me smile.

Are you a comic book lover? It seems that we can find cool travel destinations for just about anything these days. Apparently, a small town in France has a comic book festival.

As an avid surfer the only dolphin watching I do is when they swim by me, but who knows, Georgie may have convinced me to visit  this lesser known destination for dolphin and whale watching.

Ever been on a flight when they decide not to take off for a few hours. Well rather than go crazy, maybe these things to do while you’re waiting on the Tarmack would be a good way to pass the time.

I don’t know much about taking public transportation (the joys of living in LA), but if you do plan on taking public transportation check out Chanelle’s rules for public transportation.

Jools Stone was kind enough to give us a reminder that people still travel by trains and he has alot to say about it. Good stuff.

Lauren Rains  shared 5 awesome tips to rock your own travel  lifestyle experience. She also shared a pretty awesome video with us of all her travels. After seeing it I almost want to give her my job, pick myself as the winner of the contest, and hit the road. Alas, somebody has to pay the rent.

Ivan Campuzano gave us some insights into travel and its impact on personal development

Claudine over at Korea Diva gave us 10 Reasons to Visit and Live in South Korea. She also shared a video with us

Last, but definitely not least, Fabian Kruse from the Friendly Anarchist, gave us a rather spiritual look at travel in this piece on a voyage that never ends. If you haven’t read his blog I’d highly recommend it as a pretty eye opening look at life in general.

Thanks again for all your entries. Stay tuned later this week for announcement of the finalists.

Wow, these are some great posts. Will read them bit by bit, but the first ones look already very interesting – some really good ideas and writers! All in all, a tough competition! I´m sure that whoever wins will be a great addition to the Flightster team! :)

(One small remark: There is a typo in the link to Lauren Rain´s post.)
